A Word About Digital Music File Formats
1. We are completely ready to accept digital songs in the MP3, WMA, M4A (aka AAC), Ogg/Vorbis, uncompressed WAV, Musepack V7, FLAC, Real Audio, and APE (Monkey) formats. These are so popular and prevalent that few exceptions we list below will not likely trouble you anyhow.

2. We do not currently support WMA files if they were created in the “lossless” manner. These files cannot be uploaded now because of a technical problem. We hope to fix it soon.

3. And one more thing: we do not accept files of “DRMed” music. (DRM stands for Digital Rights Management.) DRM restricts your way of files use. They are encrypted, and any attempt to remove that encryption means a law violation. Since we are not going to deal with the decryption, we cannot play those files.

4. As we progress over time, we will probably add more options in terms of supported file formats.

How Can You Upload Your Files?
1. To begin the process of copying music into your locker, you must click on the “Uploader” button on the right of the screen:

Uploder button

2. This action opens the Uploader window. (It is a Java application. If you do not already have Java runtime environment installed on your system, you will have to install it from here before you can use the application, or otherwise you will be prompted to do this.) As soon as the window is ready for use, you can simply drag the folder(s) containing all your music and drop them onto window’s center part; the program will crawl all of the subfolders inside to find the music files. Instead of dragging-n-dropping any folder(s), you may browse your way directly to the proper folder as well, clicking on the “Browse …” button and navigating through file system by means of standard dialog box.

3. The “Import iTunes” button allows to find and use iTunes XML files containing the prepared information about your music collection you would be able to upload.

4. Click on “Upload” button to start the import process.

5. If you interrupt the import process before it is complete, then your account could potentially have several albums and/or tracks marked as unavailable. Simply restart the operation to correct the situation.

6. The uploader is smart enough to skip tracks that are already in your account.

7. You may close the browser window that is displaying your library and/or you may logout of your MediaMaster account during the import process.

8. Do not close the uploader window, or you will stop the import process.

9. If you accidentally stop the import operation, just click on “Upload” again to restart it from where it has been left off.

10. If you shut down or restart your computer during the import process, next time just select the same folder(s) containing your music and click on “Upload” button again. This will restart the operation from where it was interrupted.

Adjusting Bandwidth Consumed
There is a group of controls at the bottom of uploader window. Why would you adjust this slider or number?

Adjusting Bandwidth Consumed

The reasons are:

1. Adjust slider to the right (number becomes higher) if it takes too long for songs to upload.

2. Adjust slider to the left (number is decreased) if too much of your bandwidth is consumed by the upload process.

Notes:

a) A typical DSL connection has 300K to 700K bits per second available.

b) If you adjust the number too high, you will consume all your available bandwidth and find that you cannot listen to streaming music from our site.

Metadata and Present Status
1. The uploader imports your music metadata first and then your music as such. Metadata is defined as the CD cover, album name, artist name, track name etc.

2. If you see a CD cover with a special gray symbol on it, it means that it is not yet available in your account. In other words, it is still waiting to be uploaded. (Complete information on this subject you can find here.)

Tag Info Only

3. Unavailable tracks are denoted by value “No” in “Present” column as well as by dim gray color they are shown in:
